call for art

In honor of La Virgin Guadalupe feast day in December, we are proud to host a collective art show of interpretations of Hail Mary/Madonna /Divine Mother. I'm teaming up with Jenn LR Hernandez to create this beautiful show honoring La Virgin and her many incarnations. More than ever, her feminine power is needed to balance out this turbulent world. For believers & non-believers alike, we can agree this female archetype is worth a timely tribute. From "Walking Guadalupe" by Yolanda López to Vierges Noires in France, there's no shortage of inspiration for the Hail Mary show. 

The gallery will open with a ceremonial gathering on 12 December, 5pm-7pm for her feast day (Dia de la Virgen de Guadalupe). Our art party will be during 2nd Saturday Art Walk on 13 December, 6pm-9 pm. 

Submissions are due 1 December. Any medium and any reasonable size are acceptable, up to 3 submissions per artist. Please send email to lamatadoragallery@gmail.com, and cc thegrandcalavera@gmail.comfor submissions. Include image(s) and tag info (name/title/medium/price). Include the 50% commission for the gallery in your price. 

Exhibition is open from 12 December 2025 through 4 January 2026. Drop off is Tuesday 9 December from 12pm-3 pm & Wednesday 10 December from 10 am-1pm.
